ÖSEL OF MY EYE ZINE. ISSUE ONE. SUMMER 2019.

Uncategorized

THIS IS THE FIRST ISSUE OF ÖSEL OF MY EYE, WHICH I’M PLANNING ON BEING A MIXED HYBRID OF AN ART-PHOTOGRAPHY ZINE AND A PERSONAL ZINE. THIS ISSUE IS MADE FROM MY 3D PHOTOCOLLAGE WORK FROM THIS LAST SPRING AND WINTER. ALL OF THE STEREO IMAGES WERE TAKEN USING OLDER FILM CAMERAS, INCLUDING A DAVID WHITE STEREOREALIST THAT GOES ALMOST EVERYWHERE WITH ME IN MY LIFE. I CALL THEM STEREOCOLLAGES BECAUSE THEY ARE OFTEN COMPOSITED WITH EXTRA BITS OF IMAGES, MISMATCHED 3D PAIRS, AND MULTIPLE EXPOSURES. AVAILABLE IN THE BOOKSTORE NOW. SHIPPING BEGINNING JULY 1ST.
THE WORD ÖSEL IS TIBETAN AND MEANS CLEAR LIGHT OR LUMINOSITY. THE TITLE OF MY ZINE COMES FROM A DREAM I HAD MANY YEARS AGO IN WHICH I HEARD SOMEONE SAY “ÖSEL OF MY EYE…” AND I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT ÖSEL MEANT. I’VE BEEN TAKING PHOTOS, LOOKING AT THE WORLD, READING, AND TRYING TO DISCOVER WHAT IT MEANS EVER SINCE. WHAT’S IN THIS ZINE IS A LITTLE BIT OF MY RESEARCH. -HOBO 23.
