Rocío Azarloza was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received her BA in Image and Sound Design from Universidad de Buenos Aires in 2011 and her MFA in studio in 2016 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Photography department.
Her work explores what we build and how the spaces we inhabit affect our lives. In exploring our changing architecture and its specific materials, Rocío attempts to confront her own impermanence. Her work is often created for site-specific installations, but some of the pieces that compose those installations ultimately come to stand elsewhere on their own, interacting with their context to generate new meaning.
